College students’ employment problem has been respected by all parties. For micro-level speaking, it relates to a person how to make a living; for macro-level speaking, it relates to the social stability and the economic development of our country. Career Indecision is an important manifestation of college students’ employment problem. Career Indecision, which refers to a individual who did not make a career decision in the certain life stage of searching job, is a multi-dimensional complex problem.Perfectionism is one of its influence factors.The core feature of perfectionism is higher level of evaluation criteria. In traditional studies,perfectionism is considered as a negative personality trait. However, in recent years, positive effects of perfectionism draws more and more attentions. Procrastination is a complex psychological and behavior pattern that caused by cognitive, emotional, and behavioral factors interaction.Its main performance is postponing to do things what should have to be done. Procrastination has an internal causal relationship with career Indecision, perfectionism is considered to be an important cause of procrastination, so there is a close relationship between and among the three variables.To delve into the fundamental conditions of career indecision and its relationship with perfectionism and procrastination, we invited 650 undergraduate students from Taiyuan as the subjects in this research, and used the Scaling of University Students’ Career Decision Making Factors Test, the Positive Perfectionism Questionnaire, the Negative Perfectionism Questionnaire, the Lay’s General Procrastination Scale and the Adult Inventory of Procrastination to test them.First we discussed the differences of career indecisionin in basic demographic variables, then further studied the functional mechanism of perfectionism and procrastination with career indecision.Using SPSS to analyze the data, we can obtaine the following results:First, the situation of college students’ career indecision is overall in a moderate condition. Different gender college students have a significant difference on career indecision,girls’ career indecision level is higher than boys’. Different grade students have a significant difference on career indecision, junior students’ career indecision level is higher than senior students’. In respects of major, origin place and social experience, college students’ career indecision has no significant difference.Second, college students’ career indecision is significantly positively related to negative perfectionism, and is significantly negatively related to positive perfectionism. Negative perfectionism can positively predict career indecision, and positive perfectionism can negatively predict career indecision. Avoidance procrastination plays a partial intermediary role between the relation of both types of perfectionism and career indecision. Arousal procrastination plays a partial intermediary role between the relation of negative perfectionism and career indecision, but a total intermediary role between the relation of positive perfectionism and career indecision.The results show that career indecision has significant difference in gender and grade,which means vocational counsel should pay more attention on equality of men and women and accumulation of knowledge. This study also consider both arousal and avoidance procrastination as variables, which are controversial of theirs existence. By finding the two types of procrastination playing different mediation roles in impact of perfectionism to career indecision, this study indirectly confirmed the existence of these two types of procrastination.Perfectionism affect career indecision through procrastination, so we can change the situation of career indecision by controlling perfectionism and or procrastination.
