Cambridge high school curriculum, with a full name of General Certificate ofEducation Advanced Level, usually referred to as A-level course, was introduced tomy school in2008. I was fortunate to participate in physics teaching of the course. With the purpose of learning, researching and comparing, I select the physicsexperiments which can improve students’ ability to do it and creative thinking skillsas the research topic. By doing some comparison between foreign experimentsteaching methods and various aspects of domestic physics experiment teaching, some good practices are explored and in return used to enrich our experimentalteaching. This essay first describes the status quo of domestic physical experimentteaching, and then elaborates on the background, significance and theoretical basisof this research. In the third part, five aspects of physics experiment teaching aremainly focused and thereby deeply explored, they are: the educational philosophy ofA-level physics courses, the way of conducting physical experiment teaching, theexperimental data processing, experimental innovation and development, homemade teaching aids, as well as the experimental evaluation. Some typical casesare touched upon, and compared with the domestic physical experiment teaching. The fourth part is the research about operating capacity and design capability of theselected students from both domestic and A-level curriculums. By comparison,A-level physics experiment teaching pays more attention to the cultivation of thestudents’ physics experimental ability, and the emotional experience during theexperiment, which means giving students more time and space to explore, encouraging students to explore the unknown world. As a result, A-level students aremore security-conscious, environmentally conscious and low-carbon energy-savingconscious. Finally, this essay contributes to domestic physical experiment teaching oncertain practical improvements. The research of this article conforms to the trend of the new curriculum, expands the domestic physics experiment teaching ideas. Therefore, it contributes to the changing of our teachers’ traditional experiment teaching philosophy, helpingdevelop the students ability to explore the world, and is conducive to the students’lifelong development.
