In recent years, as Chinese language learners keep increasing, children who are willing to learn Chinese are also increasing in Korea. Apart from Chinese language teaching for adult, Chinese language teaching for child has its own special characteristics. Howard Gardner presented the theory of multiple intelligences on the basis of the reflection on the traditional intelligence theory. This theory is that the human mind and cognitive style is diverse and the contents of eight aspects of multiple intelligences gave basic inspiration and reference to the research of this paper. How to stimulate children’s interest in learning Chinese and improve teaching methods is the urgent problem to solve.However, research about teaching Chinese as a foreign language based on the theory of multiple intelligences are rare, but also there are almost no study about Chinese language teaching for Korean children.The object of this research is Korean young Chinese learners and on the basis of deepened understanding of the status quo of Chinese language teaching for children, to build Chinese teaching model for children and using the theory of multiple intelligences to propose specific teaching activities, try a reasonable instructional design, to investigate the effective Chinese teaching for children using multiple intelligences.This paper is divided into five chapters, the specific contents are summarized as follows:The first chapter shows the background and significance of this research and introduces current situation about Chinese language teaching for children in Korea&the summary of Chinese language teaching for children in Korea and China and explain the methods of research.The second chapter is the part about children’s second language acquisition and the theory of multiple intelligences. It introduces characteristics of children, characteristics of children’s second language acquisition, concepts and characteristics of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences and the guidance of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences toward Chinese language teaching for childrenThe third chapter is investigation about Chinese language teaching for children in Korea based on the Theory of multiple intelligences. In order to explore new models suitable for Chinese language teaching for children in Korea, first investigation and Analysis of Chinese language teaching for children in Korea were conducted and it explored new models for classroom teaching based on the Theory of multiple intelligences. Also eight features of multiple intelligences and teaching methods and activity plan of Multiple Intelligences in the Chinese language teaching for children which divided into5parts as word sound, Chinese character, vocabulary, sentence, culture were proposedThe fourth chapter is the practical application of the theory of multiple intelligences for Chinese language classroom teaching for children in Korea. It tried a reasonable instructional design that selected the textbook which using rate is quite high and demonstrated the teaching case based on the theory of multiple intelligences. It also made suggestion for Chinese teachers and investigated the effective Chinese teaching for children using multiple intelligences.The last chapter is the conclusion part, it summed up the main points of this paper and pointed out the shortcomings of this paper and recommended follow-up study.
