With the rapid development of socialist market economy and the gradualdeepening of reform and opening up, the traditional values and behavior are facingunprecedented challenges both in the economic and in the social field. As the main bodyof today’s college education, students after90s are at a critical period in the formation ofvalues and abilities. Developing their right values and behaviors and urging them toachieve excellent results are not only play an important role in their growth and success,but is also a strong guarantee of building harmonious campus and society. In the18thCommunist Party of China (CPC) National Congress, Hu Jintao pointed that coresocialist values are the soul of the Chinese nation and serve as the guide for buildingsocialism with Chinese characteristics. In this condition, how to lead students andimprove their performance and behavior through the cultivation of values is becoming aproblem to be solved.The data was collected through questionnaire survey, and the professionalstatistical software of SPSS and AMOS were employed. The author employedexploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to revise the Students’Values Scale, and the reliability and validity was texted in the formal investigation.Descriptive statistical analysis and variance analysis were employed to summarize thestatus quo of college students’ values and helping behavior. Finally, correlation analysisand multiple regression analysis were used to study the relationship between values,helping behavior and academic performance of college students.On studying the data, the author found that the overall values of contemporarycollege students are in good condition, but there are still some shortcomings.Meanwhile, values of efforts, self-awareness and network life have a significant impacton the academic performance; values of moral emotional, political, harmony andnetwork life are positive to helping behavior. In response to these findings,corresponding countermeasures were proposed.
