The goal of higher vocational education is to cultivate high-quality skilled talents, in which the quality is the basis of skills. Quality mainly includes two aspects: ideological and political quality and healthy psychological quality. Ideological and political education is to follow the law of higher vocational institute students’ideology and moral character formation and development, with certain ideas, political views, ethics, for higher vocational students in a planned and purposeful, organized education, and make them meet the national education goals required by the moral norms. Mental health education is mainly to exert some influence on the education object according to the psychology principles, using psychological counseling theory and technology, help the educated object to reduce mental conflict, alleviate psychological pressure, solve psychological contradictions, optimizing the psychological quality of a kind of activity, belonging to psychological science system. The work for the instructor is with typical characters of merged political thought education and mental health education together, responsible for the sacred mission and glorious duty for the higher vocational education to train workers of high quality, skills, excellent, psychological quality health.Based on the political instructors’work of the author engaged, this paper did lots research aimed at the key problems of the thought education and mental health education for the higher vocational students:first, studied the basis of the political thought work psychology, put forward the premise of effective political and ideological work is to meet the higher vocational students’psychology demand.In the view of the connotation and characteristic of psychology, on the basis of2008-2012grade students’psychology test data of LUOHE vocational technical college by means of SCL-90/16PF/PHI/UPI, etc., has analyzed the higher vocational students’psychological status and education present situation and the existing seven big problems, meanwhile, puts forward a "six-three" mode for the problem-solving, especially gives psychological research methods to the counselor. Secondly, the higher vocational students’work of the political instructors is divided into several stages, focus on the prevalence of mental adaptation problem of the higher vocational colleges students early entry school, strengthen and make entrance stage mental adaptation mental health guidance is the key of the work of the political instructors, this stage influenced on higher vocational students three years university life in all areas, including self consciousness, learning and personality molding, interpersonal, emotion, as well as higher vocational students training target whether can be realized or not. meanwhile, puts forward some solutions to higher vocational students admission existing mental adaptation problems and strategies should be adopted for psychological adjustment, it can be well used for students to adjust themselves to adapt to the new environment.Finally, keep pace with The Times, with the rapid development of the Internet, the Internet brings us opportunities and challenges.
