Fan Yuan-Lian(1876-1927), China’s famous modern educator, social activist and government officials. His lifelong service to the cause of education in a difficult predicament persistent efforts to promote the transformation of the old and new education in China, to maintain the Republic of educational administration, and proposed various educational advocate against domestic situation, and made a great contribution to the development of education in modern Chinese. This thesis is in the range of the Fan Yuan-Lian’s education thought content, and his insights on the army national education, general education, compulsory education, social education, industry and education, teacher education and other aspects of the highlights. His educational ideas based on the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture to absorb and learn from foreign advanced educational concepts, and based on the context of the era, the domestic situation, because of potential due to put forward the idea of the National Salvation of Education, to see education reform and social, an important role in the revitalization of the country. In addition, he also strongly advocates the development of general education, compulsory education legislation, universal social education, these largely reflect he advocated the idea of universal education, equality of men and women the right to education. Fan Yuan-Lian not only raised many education advocate, also personally organize and participate in a number of educational practice early years, founder of students in Japan crash course, Ting hua University, the superior grade Normal School, the Administrative Law School, Borderland School and other types of schools, the beginning of the Republic the actual developed under the auspices of the new education policy, policy, school management system, and education procedures, editing and publishing of new textbooks, and later presided over the Beijing Normal University in school administration, management of Sino-US scientific and cultural fund, which are to some extent promote Chinese education career development.This study is based on the historical data which has mastered, first comb Fan Yuan-Lian’s life, and the analysis of the historical background of education ideology, ideological and cultural background, and others affect their thinking. Second, refining summarize the main content of the Fan Yuan-Lian education thought. Finally, analysis of the characteristics of educational thought, evaluate their contributions and practical significance of the history of educational thought.Main body of this paper, including the introduction, the first, second and third chapters, and epilogue, a total of five parts:The introduction part discuss why the author selects this subject, its current study progress and defects of current studies on this subject, also the author’s ideas approaches for this study.Part1, combing the life of the Fan Yuan-Lian, analyzes the background of his education ideology, including the background of the times, the ideological and cultural background.Part2, discussing in detail the Fan Yuan-Lian’s education thought. His educational ideas include:to advocate military national education, vigorously promote the development of common teaching, emphasis on compulsory education and its legislation, and to strongly promote social education, standardize the six parts of the teacher education and development of industrial education. Continue to expandPart3, on the basis of the foregoing, the analysis of the characteristics of the range of the Fan Yuan-Lian’s education thinking, objective evaluation of their contributions and practical significance of the history of educational thought.The ending part, summarizes his educational thoughts as a whole.
