Biology experimental teaching is a platform used to improve students’ scientific literacyof biology and cultivate students’ innovative spirit, which has the vital significance inbiology teaching and the cultivation of students’ comprehensive quality. The newcurriculum reform stresses the need to strengthen and improve the biology experimentteaching.It is ten years since Zhaoyuan started to implement the new curriculumreform.How is junior high school biology experimental teaching situation going? In order tofully understand and find out the present stage of Zhaoyuan junior high school biologyexperimental teaching, I started to conduct the study and analysis of the problem.This research was mainly carried out through questionnaires, interviews, on—the—spotinvestigations of22urban and rural junior high schools in Zhaoyuan city on the presentsituation of experimental teaching in biology.This Survey was aimed at102biologyteachers and experimental assistants in22urban and rural junior high schools, selectedrandomly30students from each school who are in grade Two by handing out102copies ofquestionnaires for teachers and660copies of questionnaires for students. The total receivedvalid papers from students is638copies,102from teachers. The topics covers the juniorhigh school biology experiments including the basic teaching conditions, the basic situationof the biology teachers and biology laboratory assistant team, the school attitude of biologyexperimental teaching, the status of implementation of the biological experimentalteaching, biology teachers understanding of experimental teaching and studentunderstanding of the biological experiments, students outside class experiments carried out,students practical skills and evaluation. Through statistical analysis of the results of thequestionnaire, and interviews with some of the school leaders, biology teachers, biology labassistants, There are some problems existing in the following areas in Zhaoyuan City juniorhigh school biology experiment teaching (1) the gap between experimental teachingconditions and inter-schools;(2) education authorities at all levels and schools pay lessattention to the biology experiment teaching;(3) the experimental teaching concept does notmatch with modern education;(4) the low quality of teachers;(5)biology experimentalteaching resources are not fully utilized. This paper presents the existing problems and countermeasures to improve biologicalexperiments teaching: change concepts&emphasize on experimental teaching;strengthenthe experimental teaching and research&optimize teaching and learning environment;enrich experimental teaching resources&establish a scientific experimental teachingevaluation system.
