Geographical thinking ability, as the core part of the students’ ability in geography, plays animportant role in the process of student learning geography. Geographical learning effect inschool is not ideal in reality, because student learning is largely not form good geographicalthinking ability. It is comprehensive with geographical features, to requires a wide range ofknowledge,especially to require certain mathematical foundation. It lets students fear. Notonly can improve students’ geographical thinking ability and the efficiency of student learninggeography, also can improve students’ interest in learning, more important is to really improvestudents’ ability in geographyCultivating geographical thinking ability is the key to improve students’ ability ingeography, so how to cultivate the students’ geographical thinking ability is the research topicof this article. Combining with the guidance of the spirit of curriculum reform, this articleselects the geographical thinking ability cultivation of this perspective; the main researchpurpose is to contribute force in changing the present middle school geography teaching theways. The growth of the middle school students individual is not simply piled up with thevarious branches of knowledge. Behind learning the knowledge there should be more thickcontent-ability enhancement. Results of geography teaching should be that students canbecome good at application of geographic knowledge and solve geographic problems in life.In geographical thinking ability training, according that the knowledge is divided intoperceptual knowledge and rational knowledge, geographical knowledge can be divided intoperceptual knowledge and rational knowledge. According to the characteristics of all kinds ofknowledge, we can put forward the corresponding training principle, and then under therelevant guidelines specific cultivation approaches are put forward. The final researchconclusion is that geographical thinking ability training have to teach students how to masterthe geography rational knowledge and perceptual knowledge.It is not only the guidingprinciple but also specific training methods, both voluntary for geography teachers and overstudents’ active participation.
