Modern poetry inherits the classical poetry content focusing on thecharacteristics of artistic conception, conversational implicature, but also has modernforeign poems being free-spirited, emphasizing the emotion, subjectivity, musicalityand stereoscopic impression. Modern poetry is a kind of literature categories with astrong sense of the times that can cultivate the minds of all the children and cultivateperfect personality, which is a must in Chinese textbooks for middle school.This article is divided into eight parts:The first part(introduction):Briefly reviewing the significance of modernpoetry for students, the argument basis and the research value.The second part(literature review): A Brief summary of the previous researchcharacteristics of new poetry teaching and the innovation points of this article.The third par(tchapter1):Definition of modern poetry according to the concept,classification and characteristics of modern poetry.The forth part(chapter2):Instructive Meaning of the modern poetry teachingfrom the perspective of literature education and the physical and mentaldevelopment of junior high school students.The fifth part(chapter3): The author makes a summary and analysis of thecurrent status of modern poetry’s teaching from the aspect of teaching material,assessment, teachers and students. An anonymous questionnaire survey wasconducted on teachers teaching and students learning. From the questionnaire data,the situation of modern poetry teaching and learning is not optimistic.The sixth part(chapter4): After the deep research on problems of modernpoetry teaching from the teaching material, teachers and students, the author thinksthat the key of modern poetry teaching lies in the teachers teaching. Many teacherslack the understanding of modern poetry, the love for modern poetry and teachingstrategies of modern poetry. Teaching of modern poems tends to be marginalized.The seventh part(chapter5): Based on the investigation in the teachingproblems of modern poetry, the author carries on the practical exploration on the improvement of the modern poetry teaching strategies. From the viewpoint of thethree dimensions, the author talks about the strategies of improving the teaching ofmodern poetry. From the aspects of teachers, there are a lot of strategies such asleading the students to read beautifully; carefully designing poetry introductionmethod; expanding the authors life background and the writing background; seizingthe image, poetic sentiment, understanding poetry; Spreading mind, flyingimagination, perception of artistic conception; seizing the characteristics of language,comment and appreciation; experimental Teaching with real Life to have a uniqueemotional experience.The eighth part(chapter6): Based on the research on countermeasures, theteaching reform of modern poetry is discussed from the assessment, teachingmaterials and teaching. The author thinks the restriction to write poetry at seniorhigh school entrance examination should be cancelled and modern poetry can alsobe used as questions and teaching evaluation should be diversified. The selectedmaterials should be based on the poetic beauty in the poem, experience andperception based on the students. The selected materials that are popular amongthe students should be appropriate to students age and psychologicalcharacteristics. The theme and style of selected poetry should be diversified.Knowledge about modern poetry, modern poets and its technique of expression andstyle of the introduction should also be increased or embodied in textbooks. Teachersshould stimulate students interest in learning modern poetry. The author is anin-service teacher and always thinks about the teaching practice of herself and hercolleagues. The author believes that teachers should play a guiding part in themodern poetry teaching and the teachers attitude to modern poetry is veryimportant. The "poetry teaching" should be changed into "sharing".The first innovation point of this paper is to classify the content and distributionof modern poetry, the type and the connotation of modern poetry and the categoriesof modern poetry authors and to put forward her own opinions about the limitationsin the textbook. The second innovation point is to talk about how to improve thestrategies of modern poetry teaching from three aspects. The third innovation point is to look forward to the teaching reform of modern poetry at different angles ofassessment, teaching materials and teaching.
