From the principal’s ICT leadership and ICT literature, the principal’s professionaldevelopment in ICT, and the present situations of informationization in elementary andsecondary schools, this study investigated the current situations of principal’s ICT leadershipin elementary and secondary schools in Hainan province, and found out the four mainconclusions as follows:(1) Lack of ICT leadership training is the most important reason which affects theimprovement of principal’s ICT leadership.(2) Principals think the core standard of principal’s ICT leadership is that teachers caneffectively use information technology for teaching.(3) Principals think the establishment of informationization leadership team, appointmentof a special person and clear rights and liabilities are principal’s primary responsibility in thedevelopment plan of informationization.(4) Capital investment is the key factor affecting the facility buildings and is also thebiggest difficulty principals encounter in the construction of informationization.Based on the above conclusions, in order to improve the principal’s ICT leadership, weshould take the following measureas:(1) The training of principals can combine classroom learning with visit which enablesprincipals to learn experience from the informationization demonstration schools.(2) When experts and scholars make the evaluation system of principal’s ICTachievements, they should regard the effective use of information technology for teaching asthe main indicator.(3) Principals should pay attention to the establishment of informationization leadershipteam and the participation of different members such as computer teachers, subject teachers,and outstanding students who play key roles in the construction of school informationization.(4) Under the new situation our country constantly increases the investment in education.On the one hand principals should actively obtain external resources and support such ascontacting the competent department and striving for the special projects and earmarks fromnational or local construction of ICT in education. On the other hand principals should increase the investment proportion of informationization building.
