Obesity is a disease greatly harmful to our health. The obesity of our country has spread rapidly in recent years. The phenomena of the obesity among university students need our attention without hesitation. So it seems to be an urge task to get acknowledge on their attitude and choice toward the sports. It can help them to make more proper plan thus to improve their physical and mental condition. This essay is mainly based on the present background of the times at this stage, adopting various methods of document, survey, questionnaire, and statistics. It makes a study of the sports and its influencing factors of 1486 obese students in eight Northern universities of Anhui province. Here are the results:1.The obese students show little interest in the extra-curricular sports activities. They have limited acknowledge on the function of sports.2. To most students, not only the male and but also the female, the first motive of taking part in the sports is keep shape of their body, then comes to strengthen physic, recreation and past the examination.3. The most attractive sports activities to students including basketball, football, badminton, swimming, ping pang and so on. But actually the major activities they attend are jogging, basketball, badminton, football, ping pang, cycling, volleyball and rope skipping. There are significant differences between them due to the external factors.4. Most obese students prefer to take part in the activities alone. The frequency, time and extent are less than the student with normal weight.5. The activities of the obese students are unreasonable. They prefer to join the sports alone.6.The obese students have some acknowledge on sports consumption. The major motives are losing weight and recreation. Their consumption level is lower and structure is worse than the students with normal weight.7. The major factors which prevent students from taking part in the sports are as follows:lack of places, no proper items, short of time, no company, others’laughing and no guiding.8. Beside what have been discussed above, there are also some other factors such as unharmonious atmosphere, bad habit, lack of information and serious psychology.
