| In the history, Shandong Province is the main producing areas of the herbalmedicines such as honeysuckle, adenophora stricta, cyperus rotundus, divaricatesaposhnikovia root, snakegourd fruit, donkey-hide gelatin, scorpio and so on. Theherbal medicines there had enjoyed a high reputation. Historically, the climatechange, population increase of decrease in Shandong and the collection and use ofthe herbal medicines has all affected the distribution of the herbal medicines.The waterway traffic in Shandong was very developed. This developedtransport conditions made Shandong become the distribution center of the herbalmedicines. However, authentic herbals was not the main trading commodity, becauseit was planted by natural conditions restricting great.Ming an Qing Dynasties, the herbal medicines penetrated many aspects ofpeople’s social life in Shandong area. The rise of commercial towns made the urbanpublic, the mountain farmers, urban artisans and the businessmen came from otherprovinces involved in the medicinal trade links and a herbal medicine market formedin Shandong Province.Ming and Qing Dynasties, the herbal medicines in Shandong has been greatlydeveloped, which the pharmacy has played a significant role.This dissertation is to analyse the distribution, change and trade development ofthe herbal medicines in Ming and Qing Dynasties in Shandong area. The authorattempts to study the transport routes of herbal medicines in Shandong area from theperspective of historical geography and explore the reason of the authentic herbs’strade development and change in Shandong area represented by Jinan and Zibo inlate Qing Dynasty. |
