The Evolution Analysis Of Chinese Urban And Rural Resident’s Consumption Structure Since The Reform And Opening Up

Consumption structure as a measure of an important indicator of the level of consumer’sdemand can in many ways reflect the specific content, level of consumer’s demand, thequality and level of satisfaction of residents consumption demand. Study on the consumptionstructure has an important role, to know the change in consumer behavior, consumptionlevels of the residents, socio-economic structure and economic development trends.After reform and opening up more than30years, great changes have taken place in China’surban and rural resident’s Consumption structure and Consumption demand; an in-depthstudy on the resident’s consumption, the consumption structure evolution, the evolution’sreason, is great significance to startup consumption demand of urban and rural residents inChina and thus stimulates economic growth.This paper based on the results of others’ study, the macro and micro economics, consumereconomics, econometrics, relying on the historical data from the Statistical Yearbook,Comparative analysis of the level of consumption and the consumption structure evolutionof urban and rural residents in China since reform and opening up. Results indicate that theconsumption level of urban residents have entered a staged of prosperity, while theconsumption level of rural residents entering a well-to-do society, the consumption structureof urban and rural residents changed from the survival consumption goods to the enjoymentand development consumption goods. In chapter four, we used the ELES model to do anempirical analysis of price and income effects on consumption structure of urban and ruralresidents. In chapter five, we predicted consumption structure of for the next six years, thepredict results show that the expenditure of the china’s urban and rural residents use inenjoyment and development consumption goods will keep increasing in the next six years.Finally, based on the study results, for promoting the residents consumption, we raises toimprove the income level, adjust the industrial structure, and improve the social securitysystem, change the concept of consumer, strengthen market supervision.
