Entrepreneurial Leadership has become one of the most noticeable topics amongthe academia and Chinese entrepreneurs in recent years. Given the prospering ofentrepreneurship in mainland China nowadays, an empirical study on theEntrepreneurial Leadership is of profoundly theoretical and practical significance.Through face-to-face interviews with local corporate executives in mainlandChina, especially with entrepreneurs and by using the PDP(Professional DynametricProgram)system, we have conducted a thorough empirical study on EntrepreneurialLeadership of mainland China. The results show that there are distinct differencesbetween Entrepreneurial Leader and other leader in terms of personality andleadership style. Versus other leaders, Chinese entrepreneurial leaders have thefollowing distinctive characteristics-strong self-motivation, clear direction onself-development, possessing big dreams, passionate, persistent and tenacious.Chinese Entrepreneurial Leadership have six key features, among which there arefour typical features including strategist, opportunistic innovator, rational pragmatistand non-market-factor controller and two important features including learner andteam builder.Here we need to clarify that the Entrepreneurial Leader is not limited toentrepreneurs but including the professional managers those who regrard theentreprise development as their own undertakings and have the same characteristicsof personality and leadership style as entrepreneurs.In this paper, we cite a great amount of first-hand information from theinterviews for readers to better understand these Chinese entrepreneurial leaders’experience and lessons they have gained from practice, and for those who are inprogress of establishing their own business as practically useful reference.With the assistant of PDP system and statistic analysis, we have as wellsummarized the characteristics for the interviewed samples and conducted in-depthanalysis in order to find out the different leadership styles of different samples.The scale and the depth of the analysis on Chinese Entrepreneurial Leadership in this paper are rare among literatures that can be found until today. We hope theresults of this paper could enrich the Entrepreneurial Leadership Theory, provideempirical data and help Chinese entrepreneurs find their direction for furtherdevelopment.
