It has brought huge pressure of competition to rapid development of worldeconomy globalization and integration in the construction market, constructionenterprises in the form of the supply chains in order to enhance their own advantagesand to gain a win-win situation of the supply chains. Subcontractors take importantpart of the construction supply chains which is directly related to the overall benefit ofthe supply chain, for this reason how to select the subcontractors plays the significantrole of the overall interests of the construction supply chain; it also makes theoreticaland practical sense. In this paper on the basis of existing research results at home and abroad, combined with the concepts, features and processes of construction supply chains, itproposes that the subcontractor should have seven abilities, under the perspective ofconstruction supply chains, and then combined with the choosing characteristics of thesubcontractor, it puts forward two phase selection evaluation index system. On thebasis of the index system, this paper builds the two stage choice model ofsubcontractor with corresponding methods. The content of this paper includs threeparts: first though analyzed the ability of the subcontractors under the view ofconstruction supply chains, they are engineeing contracting ability, supply chain agility, supply cooperation relationships, financial ability, integrity, supply chain compatibility, continuous inprovement capability. Combined with the choosing characteristics of thesubcontractor, it puts forward two phase selection index system in construction supplychain. Secondly, combined with the feature of the two phase selection of construction supply chain, it uses different methods to evaluate the subcontractor’s choice indifferent stage, including using the cluster analysis method to choose the subcontractorwhich is satisfied with prequalification conditions, and using TOPSIS method ofcomprehensive evaluation to evaluate the individual ability and the comprehensiveability of subcontractor. Finally, using a practical example to application the two-stageselection index system and model of subcontractors under the view of constructionsupply chains, and tested its effectiveness and feasibility. This paper not only provides a theoretical framework but also provides aneffective method of subcontractors’ selection in the perspective of construction supplychain. It has the practical significance not only for increasing the general contractor’scompetitive advantage by selecting the right subcontractors, but also for the overallinterests of the construction supply chains.
