Happiness is a kind of complex psychological state when people’s needs have beenmet and their ideals have realized, it’s the life state that people always pursue and anissue exists along with the existence of people with profound significance and deepinfluence. Subjective well-being (SWB) is an important attitude of a person, it meansthe estimator values his or her overall life quality by his or her own standard, whichreflects the overall satisfaction on life.The study of SWB began earlier and developed better and there are abundant oftheories and positive research achievements in SWB in foreign countries. Meanwhile,some mature measurements have been created. We begun the study of SWB late inChina and it is almost the blank in the field of SWB of employees in small and middleenterprises, and no special SWB measurement for those employees. The goals of thisresearch are to create a SWB measurement with good reliability and validity for theemployees in small and middle enterprises to discuss the current status and traits ofSWB of these employees and to put forward feasible action plans on basis of this tocorresponding promote the employees’ SWB and thus to improve the subjective workand life quality of those employees and finish the strategic targets of enterprises as theimprovement of personal SWB and finally achieve win-win for employees andenterprise.The study puts forward its own theoretic hypotheses based on the literaturesummarize home and abroad and the open questionnaires, and then creates the originalquestionnaire of SWB of the employees in small and middle enterprises, aftermodification the final formal questionnaire has been worked out.846employees tookpart in this survey. The main results of this study are as follows:①The SWB questionnaire has good reliability and validity and it can be used tomeasure the SWB of employees in small and middle enterprises. There are ninedimensions in this questionnaire: job, economy, family, residence, personal relationship,leisure, physical and mental health, target and values and self-identification andevaluation. The SWB of employees in small and middle in our country is relatively low,the score is only3.615.②As a whole, there is no significant gender and age difference in SWB ofemployees in small and middle enterprises, and there is no significant difference in all dimensions for employees with different work natures and different numbers ofchildren.③There are different features of the SWB for employees of different enterprisetypes, work natures and work positions in small and middle enterprises in our country.The SWB for employees of different enterprise types in small and middle enterprises isforeign (joint venture) enterprise>state-owned enterprise>private enterprise, the SWBfor employees of different work natures in small and middle enterprises ismanagement>technician>office staff>worker, the SWB for employees in small andmiddle enterprises is increasing as the promotion of work positions.④In small and middle enterprises, there is difference for the SWB of employeesin different demographic variables. The SWB of male employees is higher than femaleemployees, the SWB of employees35years old and below is higher than those over35years old, the SWB of employees with higher education is higher than those with lowereducation, the SWB of married employees is higher than those who lose spouse,divorced or separated and the SWB of unmarried employees is the lowest, the trend ofSWB of employees with different working time is generally as a parabola with thehighest value when working for6~10years, the SWB of employees with no children ishigher than those with one child and the SWB of employees whith2and more childrenis the lowest, the SWB of employees with2elders need to be taken care of is higherthan those with no elders need to be taken care of and the SWB of employees with oneelder needs to be taken care of is the lowest, the SWB of employees with high monthlyincome is higher than those with lower and higher monthly income, the SWB ofemployees with their own housing is higher than those without their own housing.
