With China’s accession to the WTO, the market have more and more fiercecompetition, and the structure of the organization become more and more flat. But asthe most important part of human resource, the opportunities for the business managersto be promoted are getting smaller and smaller in their development path. Most businessmanagers will step into a career plateau period which mean their career would stagnattemporarily. They often work hard under the huge pressure, and thus have to encounterthe occurrence of job burnout, and job burnout of ongoing and may promote the declineof their job performance. Therefore, there are a lot of applicable values in studyingcareer plateau, job burnout and job performance to business managers.The research on career plateau was starting at the end of the1970s abroad with richresearch results. The related domestic studies mainly focus on the aspects of qualitativeanalysis. There are few systematical empirical studies especially on business managers.So it is necessary to study the relationships between career plateau and job burnout, jobperformance respectively combined with the practical background of Chineseenterprises’ human resource management. This thesis researches issues about businessmanagers and career plateau of our nation through theories and empirical analysis,basing on the relative study conclusions.The paper has designed the career plateau scale and job performance scale aboutbusiness managers on the basis of theoretical analysis. The conclusions we get in thispaper is that career plateau is composed by four dimensions: hierarchical plateau,content plateau, centralizing plateau and motivation plateau and job performance ofbusiness managers is composed by three dimensions: task performance, the peripheralperformance and adaptive performance by reliability and validity analysis with researchmethods including theoretical analysis, questionnaire survey and mathematic statistics.Then the paper analysis the effect of career plateau of business managers on their jobburnout and job performance by SPSS software and AMOS software, moreover,usesthe structural equation to build up a model of career plateau affect job performance inwhich job bumout as mediator.This paper attempts to reveal its impact on job burnoutand job performance in the environment of Chinese culture.Through the research, major achievements of this paper are as follows:①Careerplateau has a significant negative effect on job performance about business managers; ②Career plateau has a significant positive effect on job burnout about businessmanagers;③Job burnout has a significant negative effect of job performance aboutbusiness managers;④Job burnout has intermediacy effect, and career plateau ofbusiness managers has a significant impact on job performance through job burnout.This study draws the conclusion and analysis its shortcomings, it provides thedirection for the follow-up study about impact of career plateau on job burnout and jobperformance.
