Study On The Consumption Structure Of Urban Residents In Sichuan Province

"Adhere to the strategy of expanding domestic demand and maintain stable and rapid economic development",which is the first target of the the Twelfth Five-Year Plan Period based on economic and social development of the Twelfth Five-Year Period, but also the primary tasks of economic development of the Twelfth Five-Year Period.China’s economy is changing from the investment-led growth to consumption-led growth.Investment,exports, consumption is "Troika", which promote the economic development.Since the reform is opening, China’s important features of the economic development structure are:high investment, high exports and low consumption.The ratio of Investment, exports, consumption is in state of imbalance. The economic growth overly rely on investment and exports.but the growth of the consumption demand far lags behind the other two’s,China’s investment rate and net exports rate continue to rise almost year after year, while the final consumption rate has decreased year by year.This requires a huge potential to expand domestic demand, especially consumer demand to drive growth, accelerate the formation of consumption, investment and exports promote the economic growth situation and further enhance the endogenous driving force of economic growth, promote stable and rapid economic development.On how to expand domestic demand, the central economic conference pointed out that the key is the increase in household consumption.In theory, the main demand of consumption mainly reflected in the consumption structure. It is necessary to examine residents’consumption structure in order to expand consumer demand. By analyzing the characteristics of the consumption structure of urban residents and their trends,we not only grasp the variation of the urban consumption patterns and trends,master the hot consumer demand and direction, but also adjust the industrial structure according to the hot consumer demand, optimize the consumption structure, ensure the national economy healthy and stable development.Therefore, the study of urban residents’consumption structure is extremely of important theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, as to 2009 consumption expenditure of urban residents in Sichuan Province cross-sectional data, using the extended linear expenditure system model to analysis urban residents in the food, clothing, housing, health care and other consumer items on the eight basic needs for expenditures and the marginal propensity to consume Characteristics, and using income elasticity and price elasticity to analysis price and income changes to the impact of different consumer items. Secondly using SPSS software to carry on the cluster to 1992～2009 consumption expenditure of urban residents in Sichuan Province of data, divided into four time periods,using Grey theory to analysis consumption expenditure of urban residents in Sichuan Province for the structure of quantitative analysis, therefore we have a more detailed understanding on the consumption structure of urban residents in Sichuan Province and the internal relationship. Thirdly applying grey forecasting model to forecast the consumer data of future yeas.Finally we put forward some problems in sichuan urban consumption structure, then give reasonable suggestions to make sichuan urban consumption structure rationalization.
