So the research in a region of the consumption structure reasonable or not, can measure the region’s level of economic development and people’s consumption level.In this paper, from the qualitative and quantitative analysis, horizontal and vertical perspective the change trend of urban residents’ consumption structure in gansu province.Based on the consumption function and the consumption structure of related theory, this paper do the qualitative analysis of the consumption structure of urban residents in gansu province;Through the analysis of the relevant data of urban residents consumption in gansu province, the quantitative analysis of the consumption structure of urban residents in gansu province.Longitudinal selected from 2004 to 2013 in gansu province on the town residents’ consumption of relevant data to carry on the empirical analysis, analysis of gansu province in recent 10 years "the eight class" change trend of consumer spending, as well as the "eight big class" consumer spending accounts for the proportion of the total consumption expenditure amount change trend.Selection on the transverse consumption structure of urban residents in 2013, gansu province, analyzes the change trend of different income level resident’s consumption structure, as well as the "eight categories of consumer goods" basic consumer spending accounts for the proportion of the actual consumer spending, the marginal consumption tendency of each consumer goods, consumer goods demand income elasticity and demand price elasticity.In horizontal analysis, reference the extended linear expenditure model.
