The Research Of Cluster Enterprises’ Innovative Performance Based On The Perspectives Of Network Position And Absorptive Capacity

With economic globalization resulting in global labor division and collaboration, technologyinnovation starts to transfer from individual enterprise to enterprises’cooperation. External networkfast updated and changed brings enterprise diverse knowledge and resources, which will help topromote enterprise’s innovative performance. Therefore, dominating prominent position to obtaindifferent and various knowledge and recourse will create a good external environment; meanwhile,how to utilize these knowledge and resources effectively needs enterprise’s internal learningcapacity.Facing the new situation, this paper will discuss how network position, absorptive capacityaffect enterprise’s innovative performance. Combined with network position theory and absorptivecapacity theory, analyze the mechanism of network position and absorptive capacity impact onenterprise’s innovative performance, especially focus on doing the research on the relationshipbetween network position and enterprise’s innovative performance, absorptive capacity andenterprise’s innovative performance, the interactive relationship between network position andabsorptive capacity, then rasie the theoretical model and hypothesis. On that basis, this paper willfind 121 enterprises in Cixi household electrical applicances industry cluster as research samplesaccording to the questionaire designed, do the empirical research focusing on the relationshipbetween network position, absorptive capacity and enterprise’s innovative performance, and buildregression models to test the correctness. Finally, this paper concludes several points below basedon theoretical and empirical analysis and research:（1）Network position has partly positive correlation with innovative performance. Thereinto,prominent position has significant correlation with innovative performance, which supports thetheorectical hypothesis while entrepreneurial postion don’t show the significant effect to theinnovative performance, the result shows the different network position will affect innovativeperformance differently, especially when enterprise dominates the entrepreneurial postion, giving usa new perspective to think.（2）Absorptive capacity is positively related to innovative performance. The results prove thatenterprise can identify, diguest, transfer and untilize the external network knowledge and resourceeffectively with strong abosorptive capacity.（3）Absorptive capacity will partly moderate the relationship between network position andenterprise’s innovative performance. In that mean, with strong absorptive capacity, enterprise canabsorb and utilize the external knowledge and resources effectively when dominates the prominent position; on the contrary, enterprise dominating the entrepreneurial position will be restrained toaffect the innovative performance effectively, which is also a new situation for structural holetheory.
