Forecast on the consolidation potentiality of the rural residential land is a basicwork of land-use planning and provide the basis for determining the land resourcepotentiality of the region.Rural residential land consolidation plays an important rolein increasing the area of cultivated land，and raising the land use efficiency in Houmacity. Therefore， the article selects the calculation method of rural residential landconsolidation potential as the research topic.The author made the research in the calculation method of rural residential landconsolidation from the aspects of theory and example. The main contents are asfollows:⑴The author first make a summary and analysis of the calculation method ofrural residential Iand consolidation potential status and progress at home and abroad;⑵According to the characteristics of the consolidation potential I will divideconsolidation potential into theoretical potential and realistic potential, and exploredboth the calculation formula.⑶In example, the author first introduces the overview of Houma city. Thenestablishes the calculation model of the theoretical potential and realistic potential，and calculates them in Houma city.The main conclusions are as follows:⑴There are five calculation methods of rural residential Iand consolidationpotential:standards method;the vacancy rate method; mathematical model metnhod;trichotomy; comprehensive factor correction method.⑵The theoretical potential is only to consider the natural angle. Realisticpotential on the basis of the theoretical potential, taking into account many otherfactors can actually release the potential, it represents the theoretical potential intopractical possibilities, the potential to be realized in certain socio-economicconditions.⑶Houma has theoretical potential594.27hm2and has realistic potential285.55hm2,accounted for only48.05%of the theoretical potential. ⑷Studies have shown that:comprehensive factor correction method has certainideas on innovative, feasible and easy to operate, to some extent, rich in ideas andmethods of rural residential Iand consolidation potential.
