Jiangsu is a province with large population and developed economy. In recent years the development of population keeps increasing and population structure tends to become well. The state of population development is keep healthy. Economy is improving steadily year by year. Enterprises have been making great achievements in structure adjustment and self-dependent innovation. The situation of population and economy is relation to undertakings’development and the vital interests of the people of whole province. Experts and scholars, who are interested in population and economic problems, had a lot of researches and discussions. This paper on the basis of previous studies, to using a variety of methods, references the methods of previous studies to quantitative analysis and further discussed.In this paper I use cluster analysis, factor analysis, coordination degree analysis, spatial statistical analysis and panel data to study the population and economic of Jiangsu province.1get the rough outline of population and economic of Jiangsu province by cluster analysis, factor analysis and coordination degree analysis. The spatial statistical analysis shows spatial pattern of economic of Jiangsu province. I use panel data to analysis the specific relationship of population and economic. I choose indexes of population, economy, environment and resources, using cluster analysis, to divide the13cities of Jiangsu province into three areas. The effect of cluster analysis is more and more obvious with the passage of time. According to the population, economy, environment and resources, I continue to use factor analysis for rankings. I combine entropy method with coordination degree analysis for general evaluation. The evaluation indicates that we focus on the city not only the development but also the environment. We should hold high sustainable development for population, economy, environment and resources. In spatial statistical analysis, to take the contact of cities as binary adjacency matrix, I analyze the global spatial autocorrelation and local spatial autocorrelation for regional economy of Jiangsu province. The conclusion is there is obvious spatial agglomeration and spatial dependence. The condition of regional economy decides the flow distribution of population. As the regional theory, population, science and technology, resources may flow to the developed areas. The panel data model which is better than cross-sectional data and time series data is a model combined with time, index and individual. In this paper I use panel data model from2000to2009in13cities of Jiangsu province to fit indexes. The dependent variable is gross industrial output value. The independent variables are total population, population density, urbanization level, education level, science and technology, traffic level and per capita GDP. The results show that urbanization level which is the index of population, education level, science and technology, traffic level are significant. However total population and population density are not significant. It indicates that in economic construction and industrialization development the key determinants are the quality of population, talents and traffic. The number of population is not the determinants anymore. In the future we should improve the quality of population and the cultural structure of population. We also should develop the urbanization construction to enhance the level of urbanization.
