During the medieval ages, Hull always was the main port and trade centre of the northern England. In the first, Hull traded with the continent of Europe, the main economic activity of which was wool export and wine import. During the14th century and15th century, the trade areas became larger, stretching along the European coast, from Norway in the north, as long as Iceland, and to Spain, Portugal in the south. It is trade that promotes its initial prosperity.Chapter2introduces that after the short falling of the trade, the trade in Hull became prosperous again with the development of shipping and cloth industry in West Riding.Chapter3introduces that the trade in Hull was expanding and the commodity composition was changing.Chapter4introduces that the decline of the trade does not happen in Hull, which becomes the important port in the north of the Britain and play a part in the British economy, just because the traffic network was improved, the quays were built and the economy of the hinderland was developed.
