Disadvantaged tourist region is an objective type in regional competition. It reflects the uneven phenomenon in many aspects, such as tourism resources, market location, economic background, etc., which is the result of the comparison between areas in competitive relationship. About the research on the development of weak tourist destination, the author advocates to think over the space strategy to promote tourism competitiveness from the perspective of space competition. Therefore, in this paper, tourist space competition theory is a main foundation. The author defines disadvantaged tourism region based on differentiation and analysis of relevant concepts and insists that the weakness of some region are caused by one or several disadvantaged factors, such as resources, location, social economic environment, and so on. This concept reveals the fact that integrated effect of several factors leads to the weakness in some tourist destinations, with such typical features characteristics as relativity, changeability and comprehensive. The key to the development of weak region is to reverse the disadvantage of some factors which hinder their development, so the author also locks in and analyzes several main factors by contrasting major competitors during the research about the formation mechanism of these regions. Furthermore, differential development, regional cooperation and government leadership are the three ways to propose corresponding space strategy to enhance competitiveness of the disadvantaged region.In addition, according to the study of the disadvantaged tourism region, this paper analyzes tourism space competition of Tianzhu mountain, Jiuhua mountain and Huang mountain, which are three famous mountains of the same level and the same type, and discusses disadvantaged factors and the development countermeasures of Tianzhu mountain, in the hope of providing reference for the development of tourism region of the same type.
