As a new manufacturing organizational way, the global manufacturing network providesimportant opportunities for local manufacturing to blend in the system of international division andlearn from the flagship enterprise to obtain knowledge. In the recent year, with the rapid process ofintegrating into the global manufacturing network, the local enterprise have the opportunity tochoose the appropriate network position, and even forms its own sub-network beyond hooking onto the network. They have greater freedom and play a more important role in the globalmanufacturing network, the result lays a solid foundation for local enterprises to transform fromlow value chain to high value link. Therefore, it is an important issue for the local manufacturingthat how to build the appropriate network site to continuously provide superior resource and tobring the comprehensive strategy upgrade for the enterprises. Existing research has providecharacteristics of different network position models and the accompanying competitive advantageto the enterprises, but is weak on the study that how the network position impacts on the localenterprises to obtain the knowledge from the global manufacturing network and how knowledgeacquisition influence on the enterprise technology innovation. What’s more, there are certaindifferences between the existing research conclusions.First, this paper reviews and clears up some relevant literatures about global manufacturingnetwork position model0 knowledge acquisition and local supply chain collaboration innovationability. Second, constructs the global manufacturing network position model and the matchedmodel between knowledge acquisition and local enterprise’s innovation performance, furtherexplores three logical sub-problems: (1) the impacts of the different position models in the globalmanufacturing network on local enterprise’s innovation performance; (2) the impacts of differentnetwork position models on knowledge acquisition; (3) the mechanism of the knowledgeacquisition on enterprise’s technology innovation. In accordance with the survey data of 129 localmanufacturing enterprises which all have international business, finally the paper makes anempirical analysis of the proposed model and research hypothesis with factor analysis0 multiplelinear regression and other statistical methods. The main results are as follows:Based on the relevant research, this paper divides the network position models into DegreeCentrality0 Betweenness Centrality and Closeness Centrality, and further studies the relationshipbetween each model and the innovation performance. It indicates that in global manufacturingnetwork, Degree Centrality and Betweenness Centrality model has positive impact on enterprise’sinnovation performance, but not Closeness Centrality model. In particular, Degree Centrality is good for local enterprise to obtain valuable information in the global manufacturing network, andestablish intimate relationship and trust with the foreign partners, further more, reduces the cost ofknowledge searching and the delivery of tacit knowledge, so that the enterprise’s innovationperformance will increase; Betweenness Centrality can bring heterogeneous useful resources forlocal enterprises, especially useful new knowledge and information, these are all good for localenterprises to improve the independent innovation capability and performance. Closeness Centrality can enhancethe initiative and freedom of local enterprises in the global manufacturing network, so enterprisescan put into more resources and energy to search for high quality information in the globalmanufacturing network to realize increasing innovation performance. But this study finds thatCloseness Centrality model has no significant impact on the local enterprise’s innovationperformance. With the deep research of social network, scholars notice that the impact of enterprise’snetwork position on innovation performance is based on knowledge acquisition. So, this paperlucubrates the influence of different network position models on local enterprise’s knowledgeacquisition in the global manufacturing network. The empirical study finds that in the globalmanufacturing network, Degree Centrality and Betweenness Centrality model has positive impacton local enterprise’s knowledge acquisition, while Closeness Centrality has on significant impact. In the research of knowledge acquisition, local enterprises can obtain both explicit and tacitknowledge, and this paper pays close attention on the different impact on local enterprise’sinnovation performance. Therefore, the study divide s knowledge acquisition into two dimensions(explicit and tacit knowledge), and focuses on their different impacts on the innovationperformance. By getting external knowledge, enterprises can improve product and technologyinnovation from three aspects: (1) increasing the breadth and depth of the available specializedknowledge to improve the possibility of new innovative combination; (2)reducing the developmentcycle of the product to speed up the product innovation; (3)enhancing the initiative and positivity ofenterprises to provide new product and technology to customers. The empirical study of this papermanifests that both explicit and tacit knowledge acquisition has significantly positive impact onlocal enterprise’s innovation performance.
