The entire business environment of Chinese commercial banks is experiencing greatchanges in the new age. And the traditional development model may not be popular in thebackgrounds of world’s economy crisis, capital constraint, financial disintermediation andthe marketization of interest rate. Therefore, the transformation of business strategy hasbecome a new topic for study. City commercial banks, which is ranking the third team inChina’s banking system, are much eager and imperiously to transform the business strategy,especially when facing the fierce competition from the big state-owned banks,shareholding commercial banks and foreign banks.This paper firstly demonstrates the necessarity of business strategy transformation incity commercial banks from two aspects: economic features in the new age and the presentconditions of city commercial banks in the market. After that, the paper studies the detailsof Bank N’s business strategy transformation, on the basis of which, the paper confers theways and tactics of city commercial banks’ business strategy transformation in thefollowings areas: corporate governance, management philosophy, business structure, riskmanagement, trans-regional operation, capital market and personnel system. By the abovestudy, the paper hopes that it could provide some suggestions on the business strategytransformation of city commercial banks in China.
