Tea is one of the most important economic crops of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture and it has played a significant role in the economy of the prefecture as the advantageous and supporting industry,which has developed quickly and ranked the first in Hubei Province since1978. However, the development,coupled with opportunities and risks, is confronted with many problems. Enshi is a big prefecture of tea,not a strong prefecture of tea. Therefore,the systematic analysis on the tea industry of Enshi,the search for the advantages and disadvantages and the practical suggestions on further development are all meaningful both in theory and practice.The paper inherits the methods from industry economics, agricultural economics, development Economics, regional economics and tea science, combining normative analysis with positive analysis, qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis. It uses the Model of Diomand as the theoratical tool,analyzing the potential and the disadvantages of the tea industry of Enshi, forming the theoratical pattern and providing scientific guidance and policy suggestions.The paper is divided into five parts. The prelude includes the background, the purpose, the meaning, the literature review, the content, the method. The first chapter involves the the definitions of the concepts and the theoratical base of the paper. The second chapter concerns the introduction to Enshi prefecture, the long tea history and current characteristics of tea industry of Enshi. The third chapter employes the Diomand Model to analyze the factors in the competitiveness of tea industry, pointing out the potential as well as the problems. The fourth chapter, based on the previous analysis, provides the suggestions that the ecological tea plantation should be set up; that good seeds of tea trees should be selected; that the technological research and guidance should be improved; that the technological station should be spread; that the cultivation of the experts should catch more attention;that the tea in summer and fall should be used well;that the tea chains should be prolonged; that the tea culture and history should be analyzed and the uniqueness of Tujiazu tea culture should be propagated;that the tea tour should be made; that the pattern of multi-party management should be reformed; that brand image should be strong;that selling pattern based on regions should be delevoped; that financial help should be given;that the warining system should be established; that the best enterprises should be surpported.
