The biggest tea area in Hubei Province, Enshi Autonomous Prefecture is located inthe northem part of Wuling Mountain, covers 24061.25 square kilometers, in the area ofsubtropic mountainious monsoon climate, where four seasons are distinct, winter is notseverely cold, and summer not extremely hot. Such excellent ecological environment isjust suitable for tea tree to grow in this area, and also improves the quality of the teaproducts. Enshi Autonomous Profecture is called 'World Selenium Centre' because ofabundant selenium in the soil of the area, and tea from this area is called 'Selenium-richTea', and most 'Selenium-rich Tea is from Enshi in China. Enshi has 30,600 ha tea garden,and every year tea yield is 22,000 t, tea production value is RMB 40,000,000, and as thebiggest tea area in Hubei Province, it is always accelerating the development of the teaindustry in Hubei Province.Main factors that impede the development of the tea industry in the area are asfollows: (1) the scale of tea manufacturers are small; (2) tea products lack the content ofscience and technology; (3) there are no tea brands known in the domestic market; (4) theconcept about Selenium-rich Tea has not been exploited and applied effectively; (5) teabrands does not closely combine with nation tea culture; (6) tea markets are not healthy.In conclusion, the tea industry in this area just failed to get the benefit from nation culture,ecological resources, Selenium resource, extending production scale and so on.Taking effective measures by depending on resources superiority is the main way toincrease the tea production benefit in the prefecture. These measures include: (1)developing nation tea culture and improving tea industry; (2) building organic tea bases,and implementing non-social effects of pollution tea production standards; (3) creatingfist-class tea brands, and enhancing competition ability; (4) fostering tea flagshipenterprises, and accelerating the developing of local tea industry; (5) attaching importanceto tea market, and extending tea circulation channels; (6) improving the tea specialtyability of persons in tea industry by training.
