In recent years, a series of affairs occurred in our society concerning on the safety offoods,which show that there were some deficiencies in the supplying chain management inretail trading. Social Resources Institute（SRI）has initiated the concept of “supply chainresponsibility (SCR)” and designed the SCR Matrix, a tool for appraising the level of supplychain responsibility for companies in2007. Social Resources Institute（SRI）applied the SCRMatrix with investigating the truth supply chain responsibility in the retail trade and madean conclusion that the situation was very bad in the retrial trade, almost zero.Based on the research that Social Resources Institute（SRI）has made, the thesis wouldtried to analysis the current circumstance for A department store with SCR Matrix andappraise the development on the management of supplying chain in recent5years, moreover,with the hope of finding the problems, reasons and ways to improve it.In consideration of theweakness of channels for gathering message, almost none of the retail trade companiesreleased the messages publicly about supply chain responsibility and it was hard to appraisethe practice of supply chain responsibility objectively and overall. The thesis will collect themessages from all kinds of channels besides inner channel, such as inner training messagesand practice in supply chain responsibility. At the same time,the introduce on practice of Adepartment store in supply chain responsibility will be done from three aspects, theappraising system of supplier when introducing new ones, the management of supply chainresponsibility when cooperating and the system of elimination.Then the SCR Matrix wasapplied to appraise the level of supply chain management in A department store and made aconclusion that the level of supply chain responsibility was very low, though some practicehave taken during the operating process.There were problems that A department store faced in the management of supplychain responsibility, such as the imperfection of supply chain core standard, the lack of supplychain responsibility in new supplier appraising system and procurement, the absence ofsupply chain audit, non-transparency of suppliers directory and low participant forstakeholders. As for the reasons, there were complicate in external and internalenvironment, the weak consciousness of supply chain responsibility for consumers, theunbalance of the obligation and right for suppliers and retail traders during cooperation, andthe little practice in supply chain responsibility,etc. Therefore, there were a long way for Adepartment store to try to find out to practice the supply chain responsibility.As to how to practice the supply chain responsibility, some recommendation were made for A department store based on the success practice of international retail tradecooperate. Setting up a series of Suppliers conduct norms was the first step, then appliedthem to the process of introducing, cooperating and eliminating process for suppliers.Withthe core idea of supply chain responsibility, through strengthening the communication andcooperation, some effective measures were taken to improve the current circumstance andestablish a more environment, stable and durable supply chain and a more harmonioussociety.
