With the fast-growing development of economic globalization and internationallinkages, exhibition has become an important platform for world economic andtechnical exchanges. As the emerging "sunrise industry", exhibition industry is actingas "economic driver". China’s exhibition industry has begun to take shape, however itscomprehensive strength is largely deficient. It’s an important question that must besolved that how to analyze its characteristics accurately, find out its formation rule forcore competitive power based on facts, how to integrate it with related industries’resources, develop and strengthen it, and finally obtain a place in the fierce marketcompetition. The article talks about the formation causes and conditions on the basis ofexhibition core competitiveness theory, followed by in-depth research on theunderlying elements, and then end up with formation process. The article suggests the core competitiveness formation of exhibition industry isthe result of internal and external causes. The internal cause is mainly due to thedriving of high profits and request for optimization of industrial structure. Theexternal cause comes from fierce market competition, huge market demand, multimedia technology promotion and government industry associations. Theformation conditions of the convention and exhibition industry’s core competitivenessis also reflected in both internal and external. Internal condition refers to thedevelopment of human resources, facilities, management and project Innovation.External conditions contain economic, technological, cultural, policy and legalenvironment. These conditions catalytic and promote the formation of internal andexternal motives. In addition to major traditional core resources which are humanresources, cultural resources, technological resources and project resources, there are3unique core resources: exhibition venues, exhibition public service system and locationadvantage. Aggregation ability, diffusion capacity, coordination and innovative abilityare founded on the core resources. The formation process of the convention andexhibition industry’s core competitiveness can be divided into three stages, namely, resource integration, industry linkage and tracking.
