The Empirical Research On Factors Affecting Chinese Service Export Structure

Chinese service industry develops rapidly with the focus of global economic structure shifting towards the service industry, but is the service export structure in China a sound one? In this paper, we analyze the problems in the export structure of Chinese service trade, and find that the growth of labor-intensive services exports is very slow, capital-intensive services exports grow rapidly, while the service trade is in a situation of deficit for years, and seems to increase over time. Traditional labor-intensive service trade, tourism exports account for a large proportion of Chinese service trade exports, the capital-intensive serivces exports a smaller proportion. The competitiveness index of various sectors of service export in China, RCA index and TC index both show that the export structure is weak in the international competition. Structural changes in services exports index, such as Lawrence index and Beneficiary Index turns out to be a small number, indicating that Chinese service trade continued to optimize the export structure, but the magnitude of change is slow, which is a serious impediment to the development of Chinese service trade.There are many reasons for these problems. The purpose of this research is to find out exactly what factors have contributed to Chinese service trade export structure, the extent of these factors’impact on the service export structure and some advice on optimization of Chinese service trade export structure.According to the status quo of Chinese service trade export structure and the related theories, this article introduces three factors, respectively be the factor endowments, the degree of openness of trade in services and foreign direct investment, elaborated exhaustively as far as possible the three factor distinction effects of the export structure of Chinese service trade. However, the structure of services exports, taking into account factors affecting trade in services and factors affecting trade in total exports, some affecting all of them may exist between the factors, as well as its own unique factors, so this paper first distinguished the two pairs of factors. Then, select samples for the relevant indicators of year1985-2007, establish econometric models, and after analyze the effects of various factors on the export structure of Chinese service trade, conclude that:(1) The factor endowments change, that is, the increase in the capital labor ratio is conducive to Chinese service export structure optimizing;(2) The degree of opening in service trade is also conducive to Chinese service export structural optimization;(3) The conducive effect of foreign direct investment to Chinese service export structure do not seem to be remarkable, since the actual use of foreign direct investment in service sectors, is too little. To full play the positive effectiveness, relevant departments may try to guide foreign direct investment flows more to service industry.
