The Experiment Alanalysis On The Effect Of TBT On Jiangsu’s Electromechanical Products Export

Since1990s, the world trades develop vigorously, under the WTO frame, the impact of tariff and traditional non-tariff barriers in international trade has restricted gradually. But all these never have taken trade protectionism away from us, Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), because of its advantages on legitimacy, concealment, complexity, etc, are becoming the important method to protect local market, restrict import and implement trade protectionism for many countries. As one kind of new trade barrier, its impacts on international trade are obviously different with traditional non-tariff barriers. On the one hand, its rational using is good for improvement of economic and trade environment, will make positive effect on global economy and international trade; on the other hand, if it is excessive abused which will hinder fair international trade.The trading of electro-mechanical products, as an important symbol to measure a country’s foreign trade competitiveness, is one of the most active trading products, automatically being the leading industry of international trade. So many countriesregard expansion of electro-mechanical products as a significant strategic objective of domestic economic development. In the great support of national macroeconomic policies, China’s electro-mechanical industry has made great progress, and the export of electro-mechanical products has made sustained and rapid growth, becoming the world’s largest exporter of electro-mechanical products. Meanwhile, more and more TBT are set up by developed countries, which will take profound and lasting impact on China’s electro-mechanical industry.Jiangsu is one of the provinces which export the most electro-mechanical products. The export of electromechanical products has a direct impact on the province’s economy. So it makes sense to master the relationship between TBT and the export of electromechanical products from Jiangsu, as global economy reviving slowly and trade protectionism increasing. This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction, which introduces the research background, the significance, the present situation of domestic and foreign research, the outline and methods and so on.The second part firstly describes the definition of TBT, then analyzes the economic effects and development trends of TBT, at last simply introduces some TBT about electro-mechanical products.The third part firstly introduces electro-mechanical products’TBT from U.S.A., then shows the situation and characters of Jiangsu’s export on electro-mechanical products.The fourth part sets up a measurement model according to the Klein trade model. We use2005-2009Jiangsu Province month data to carry out analysis on the export of Jiangsu Province’s electro-mechanical products and TBT, and make some explanation to the conclusions.The fifth part is the conclusions and recommendations of the paper, further proposed the policy recommendations that meet the actual situation in Jiangsu Province, which is based on the previous studies.
