With the gradual weakening of the role of traditional tariff barriers and non-tariffbarriers, the role of technical barriers to trade is more and more obvious, one of the mostpopular measure with the developed countries is green trade barriers. In the name ofprotecting the environment and the health and safety of human life, or to achieve aparticular purpose, developed countries implement green barriers to trade restrictions evenprohibit imports of certain goods, the essence of which is the trade protectionism,especially after the financial crisis in2008. Environmental standards became more andmore strict in post-crisis era, our mechanical and electrical products exports to the EUfrequently affected, how to deal with the EU green barriers is a question which was moreand more important to the mechanical and electrical enterprises in our country.From the social, economic and political background of the Green Trade Barrier, thispaper discussed its origin and new features in the post-crisis era, analyze the economiceffects of the green trade barriers in the short and long-term, and both positive and negativeeffects that Green barriers on China’s machinery and electronic products. By describing thestatus quo of our mechanical and electrical products exports to Europe in post-crisis era,compared the status of our mechanical and electrical products exports to the EU before andafter the crisis, identified the reason our electrical products exports to the EU sufferfrequent for the EU green barriers. On this basis, using the Trade Gravity Model analysismethod to analyze this influence on quantitative, the empirical results show that the effectsof EU green trade barriers on Chinese exports of mechanical and electronic products in thepost-crisis era are bigger than before the crisis. At the end of this paper, the author putforward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions in the macro government,medium industry association and micro enterprise three aspects, in this special period, onlythree levels contact to assist each other to really play their respective roles can look for agood way to circumvent the green barriers in the short-term, and fundamental way to through the Green Trade Barrier completely in long-term.So, only if we respond actively will we minimize the negative impact of the Green Tra-de Barrier to China.
