The Present Situation On Modern Fishery Development And Its Programme Strategy In Nanyang

Nanyang lies in the southwest of Henan. It has an area of198.93thousand hectares of water area and its annual runoff reaches6.7billion cubic metres. The total amount of water resource comes to6.843billion cubic metres. There is1.1million mu water area available for aquaculture and2.1mu beach to be developed. The developed aquaculture area is700thousand mu, among which there are more than500reservoirs of different kinds covering an area of570thousand mu. So it has good natural conditions for developing aquaculture industry. The total production of aquatic products was290thousand ton in2008, among which fish ptoduction covered90.5thousand ton and it ranked the second in the province. The gross product value in aquatic industry of Nanyang is3.587billion yuan, increasing by1.425billion yuan compaered to the year2002and its average annual increasing rate is11%. It approximately accounted for5%of the gross value for agriculture. The net income of fish farmer comes to5700yuan per capita, increasing by2030yuan compared to the year2005, and the average annual increasing rate is15.8%. So fishery is one of the most effective and productive industries in agriculture.Based on the analysis of the achievements for aquacupture development, the key problems and the market supply and demand, this paper put forword some strategies to deal with the key probloms in the fishery development and programmes. The experiences and theory for aquaculture industry development both in our country and abroad are also refered in the paper. The result of my research showed that the fishery industry should perform a sustainable function on water utilization and environment conservation. The fishery has the great potential for future development. The management and service should be improved to form a fishery industry chain. At the same time, this paper clearly illustrated the construction programmes in modern fishery industry such as the construction eco-fishery industry in reservoirs, the demonstration project of modern healthy fishery industry including the new aquaculture and planting techniques for lotus and rice field, etc. All these promoted the healthy sustainable development for modern fishery industry in Nanyang. The research methods and results of this paper worth exploratory and it can give some good advice for the reseach of same kind.
