| With the process of globalization and the development of global economy, the role of modern logistics has been increased daily in economy development. As an important link of logistics system, the port has become a major junction of transportation by waterway, land and air, which has played a more and more important role in the modern logistics and also played an important strategic role of international production, trade and logistics. Port logistics as a typical modern service industry is a main support for the construction of manufacturing and service centers. Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu province and also a demonstration zone of modern service industry. Nanjing metropolitan region has a pivotal role in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone.In January1998, with the great attention of Chinese Party Central Committee and State Council, the third phase project of12.5meters deep waterway in the Yangtze Delta was started. The extension of deep waterway up to Nanjing will bring the rapid development of economic along Yangtze River and benefits to economy and society significantly. To adjust the high platform status of international manufacturing, Nanjing Port should seize the opportunity and play an important role in transportation junction of Yangtze River delta. Relying on Yangtze River golden waterway, the flow and exchange of goods in the international community can be achieved. Based on international custom, by using international logistics network, logistics facility and logistics technology, the economic development of the Nanjing metropolitan area and the full utilization of global resources are promoted. Therefore, the analysis of the development status of Nanjing Port logistics as well as the study on extension of12.5meters deep waterway of the Yangtze River up to Nanjing have important practical significance on the development impact and countermeasures study of Nanjing Port logistics. |
