This paper contains a detailed analysis of Organisational Culture and effective Leadership within the Telecommunications Industry and one which they must commit to, not only to assist in achieving their goals but to insure they have employees that are committed to the establishment.Strong organisational culture can motivate staff to work harder and produce better products and services for their customers. This in turn leads to, not only, increased revenue for organisations but also increases personal benefits such as self worth for employees and customers. In order for an organisations strategy to be implement effectively, good leadership and supportive cultures are essential enablers. To increase performance, new behaviours may be required by employees such as team work, ownership and the ability to become innovators:however it is the responsibility of leaders to ensure employees are given the opportunity and tools to develop such behaviours. Developing a culture that encourages creative thinking is important. Some organisations lack the ability to see the enormous creative potential in their staff. There is a need to develop an environment where employees are engaged and take pleasure in their work. Individual fear of failure can have a detriment effect on creativity. The current research was carried out contrasting a privately owned telecommunications company in Ireland with that of state owned in China. Candid interviews took place with three members of each establishment resulting in some disparity between the cultures and leadership styles in both.Based on this and a thorough literature review, conclusions were drawn and recommendations were made.
