With the development of the global economy, the international society pays more and more attention to the problem of global climate change. It has become an important task to mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. Accession to WTO, China’s economic increased rapidly, but at the same time China’s energy consumption and pollution emissions also increased rapidly, especially carbon emissions. So our country is facing huge international pressure. In this paper, we use input-output model to calculate the embodied carbon emissions in China and the U.S. bilateral trade from2003to2009. The results show that the embodied carbon emission of the Sino-US trade increase or decrease with the increase or decrease of the size of the export between2003and2009. Compare the difference of the carbon emissions in the Sino-US trade, we can find that China is a country with net exporter of embodied carbon emissions. This indicates that the United States will transfer some of the implicit carbon emissions to China through the trade between the two countries, which are not conducive to reducing carbon emissions in China. In this paper, we also use the input-output structural decomposition analysis to analyze the influencing factors of the carbon emission in Sino-US trade. The results show that compared with the first phase, the three effects is difference. In the two periods, the scale effects are the main factors of the Sino-US trade embodied carbon emissions. With the combination of the influencing factors of carbon emission in each economic sector, we can find that China mainly export commodities with higher carbon emission, while import commodities with lower carbon emission. At the end of this article, we proposed relevant political suggestions to reduce the embodied carbon emissions.
