With the high-speed development of economy, as a pillar of national economy, thesafety of the power supply enterprises receive more and more attention of the society. Butwith the expansion of the scale of power grid, the power supply and the personnel continueto increase, accident happens more and more frequently, which directly affects thedevelopment of various industries and the stability of people’s life.In long time practices, power industry has formed safety management system andmethods of its own. Recent years, State Grid and Southern Grid have carried out safety riskmanagement step by step, which takes management and technology methods to control thesafety production according to the result of risk assessment, to standardize enterprise’s safetymanagement and improve the safety management level.Job risk assessment is one of the bases of safety management system. Effective,systematic risk assessment provides basis and the support for safety management. Experts andscholars at home and abroad have researched and tried risk assessment methods, and manyof them have been applied to power supply enterprises,and good results have been achieved.The existing evaluation method of Southern Grid is PES. As a half quantitativeevaluation method, PES has a certain limitation, mainly concentrated in the parametersetting and the rationality of the value, and it fails to combined with the characteristics of thepower supply work. It brings some difficulties to promote safety management. This papersurveyed the doubts of PES for field staff, compared the advantages and disadvantages ofvarious risk assessment methods, summarized the distribution character and the factors thatinfluence the safety of power supply enterprises by analyzing accidents of Southern Grid from2006to2008,and proposed corrections of PES. The corrections overcome the problems thatconception is not clear and the value is not standard in hazards identification, solve theproblems that parameter selection is not clear and value is not close to power grid productionin risk assessment, and increase six correction factor including "power grid state", so thatcombined with the actual production of power grid.According to the professional’s feedback of the method, the corrected method issimpler in the parameter selection and risk value calculation than the PES. And through thecontrast of risk assessment results and accident statistics, both of them have the distributioncharacter. So the new method meets the evaluation accuracy requirements.
