As a daily basic activity in manufacturing enterprise, production logistics is the next "profit source" to increase enterprise profits. At present, however, the manufacturing enterprise production logistics management isn’t very standard. Human factors account for a large proportion, and non-standard management is very common. An important reason causing this confusion in production logistics management is that many enterprises did not consider logistics factors at the beginning and gradually realized the importance of it in the process of operation. But unfortunately by then, some established irreversible factors limited the production logistics optimization. So, the production logistics should be taken into consideration comprehensively at the beginning of the enterprise’s foundation to make the production logistics system work for each phase from designing, implement to functioning. Reference to the thought of Computer Aided Process Planning System (CAPP), this article puts forward this new concept, Computer Aided Production Logistics System Designing and try to design a kind of logistics card which is similar to the production process card guiding the process, can be used to guide the production logistics management and control in enterprise production process of operation.In order to increase enterprise’s performance, this paper researches how to make production logistics system into a high efficiency and high benefit system by designing it with computer technology. Based on the structural system designing method, this article uses IDEFO tool to construct system function model, define the integrated relationship between the system and other enterprise management systems, and study all the aspects involved in the enterprise production logistics. The following are the main contents of this paper’s research.In the first and second parts, in order to lay the foundation for putting forward production logistics system design suited for China’s national conditions, the paper analyzes the background and meaning of this article, introduces the production logistics system’s relevant knowledge and technical methods and analyzes the research status at home and abroad.In the third part, it carries a detailed study of the discrete manufacturing production logistics system, discusses differences of the production logistics management process under different planning mode, and researches two basic businesses of production logistics-storage and material handling. Then it puts forward the overall target of production logistics design system, defines the system’s function model and sets up the system’s architecture.In the fourth part, it researches the detailed designing process of storage nodes setup module and handling system design module. Storage nodes setup module decides if materials need to be stored, and what type of nodes need to be used. Handling system design module selects logistics equipments which include loading container, container unit and handling tools.In the fifth part, it researches the detailed designing processes of logistics process management module and logistics volumes statistics and analysis module. It also discusses how to calculate the logistics volumes, how to summarize foundation information to make a form named logistics card, how to count and analyze the whole plant’s logistics volumes and how to use those information to form a logistics relationship chart as the reference of facilities planning and layout designing.
