As more and more international catering enterprises are pouring into the marketof China, great changes have happened to Chinese people’s catering and consumptionhabits. Meanwhile, domestic catering enterprises have been witnessing more andmore cruel competitions and tests, and to learn from those international cateringenterprises’ business models and advanced management ideals has become necessarymethod for them to improve their own competitive power.Based on doing research on and setting forth theories of chain business, thisthesis has analyzed present situation and some problems of chain catering enterprisesin China. Through doing case study on Starbucks’ chain business, it has found weakpoints of chain business of our country’s catering industry and brings upcorresponding business operation strategies.This thesis has been divided into six chapters, chapter one points out theresearch background, brings up questions and narrates the thinking of the whole paper.Chapter two mainly introduces relevant theories of transnational operation, thesituation of research on transnational chain business at home and abroad, as well asdefines transnational enterprises, chain enterprises and transnational chain enterprises.Besides, it also makes definition of concept and classification of catering industry. Atlast, it explains business model and all research theories on business model, based onwhich it brings up research configuration about business model. Chapter threediscusses development phases, present situation and main problems of internationalcatering enterprises in China. Chapter four introduces case analysis of chain businessof Starbucks, its development history, chain business ideal and future potential risksfor it to develop in China. Chapter five summarizes the present situation and mainproblems of Chinese catering enterprises and gives suggestions for improvement.Chapter six is conclusion. The full text of the study is of theoretical value, also hascertain operational and guiding role in the specific management of chain operator.
