Along with the rapid development of China’s rural economy and the deepening of the reform, rural land uses have a series of urgent issues, such as sprawl and low density in residential areas. Continuing reduction of cultivated land led to rural land resources shortage and environmental quality declining. This paper explores the spatial patterns of rural land-use structure and the methods to recognize them, trying to provide scientific methods for solving rural land-use structure problems. The research scale is village.This paper considered the previous research theories and methods of spatial pattern of rural land-use structure both in China and abroad. By using "patch-corridor-matrix" pattern of landscape ecology and topological principle, we could analyze the current spatial pattern of rural land use structure, and seven types of typical spatial patterns of rural land use structure are presented whose spatial topological relationship are descripted. On the aspect of spatial pattern of rural land use structure recognition methods, we establishd the spatial pattern of rural land-use structure recognition index system based on the characteristics of all kinds of spatial pattern of rural land-use structure and the principal component analysis methods, to achieve the purpose of quantitative identification of spatial pattern of rural land use structure. Data organization and analysis were implemented on GIS platform. By using the powerful GIS spatial data management and spatial data analysis functions, this paper achieved data acquisition and processing, overlay analysis of data, density analysis of data and the calculation of the indicators.Four villages of Yanting were selected as study areas, and we built a spatial pattern of rural land-use structure recognition index system to identify their spatial patterns and analyzed how they impacted on the local socio-economic. Through this empirical research, we proved the feasibility and rationality of the spatial pattern recognition methods.The result showed that the methods of spatial pattern of rural land-use structure recognition demonstrated both the present situation of rural land-use structure and the impact on socio-economic development. This could be a great help in making a reasonable rural land-use structure plan and promote the development of intensive use of land and socio-economic.
