There is a long history of steel industry in China which is the strategic and pillar industry of national economy. It has achieved great achievements since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. At the prime stage of its establishment, the output of steel is just15.8million tons which is ranked26th in the world. The output of steel reached1million tons in1996which is ranked1st in the word. And from then our country take the lead all the time. The output breaks the record in the year of2010which reaches6million tons.Our government has encouraged the development of steel industry. And it gives great support to the steel industry. Moreover, since the reform and opening up, the national economy is also at stable development which is helpful for the development of steel industry. The industrialization arouses the demand of steel products is increasing. Based on the condition above, it has made remarkable achievements. But because of the output expands pursuit in its developing process, there are many problems. Such as excess capacity, unreasonable layout, unreasonable product structure etc.The aim of this article is to make a comparison among seven international countries with the steel industrial competitiveness. And then make a evaluation to them by which we can known the steel industrial competitiveness of our country. Then the article analyzes the reasons of it. At last the article offers some proposals.
