Since reforming and opening of China, grain production has developed quickly. At thesame time, the problems as low productivity and waste of resources, worsening environmentetc, become more and more serious, the only way to solve these problems is alteration ofgrain production development pattern (GPDP) from extensive to intensive. In thisbackground, the paper chooses the great agricultural province---Henan to research thealteration of GPDP. By gathering references and statistical date, it reasonably analyzes thesituation of GPDP in Henan province. The paper also builds up a set of evaluating indicatorsystem,in order to providing theory support for researching Henan province. In this paper, the latest relevant data of food industry are used to analysis the degree ofGPDP, it can provide the theory basis to make decisions for the government. The authoranalyzes the conditions of GPDP through researching its stabilities of factors in Henan, itevaluates alteration of GPDP through tow methods of total factor productivity and inputelastic coefficient. The result shows GPDP is altering from extensive to intensive, and the capital andtechnology play vital import roles in the process of GPDP, government should increase theinvestment to promote the food industry develop soundly and rapidly. The paper is divided into five sections. First, the domestic and foreign scholars’ researchesare summarized; Second, the theoretical and detailed derivation of input elastic coefficientmethods and total factor productivity method about GPDP are carried on; Third, the basicconditions of GPDP are analyzed in Henan; Fourth, the situation of GPDP is analyzed in thelast data; In the last part, the results are summarized and related elements in United States, inorder to find out the gap and put forward rational Suggestions for us.
