Research About Competition And Complementarity Of The Regional Economic Growth In Jiangxi Province

The paper firstly introduced Dendrinos-Sonis model and spatial autocorrelation， meanwhile reviewed applications of D-S model and spatial autocorrelation in China and researches of regional economic growth. Secondly, basedon the GDP of the eleven administrative cities in JiangXi Province during the yearfrom1994to2009, the11cities will be divided into three regions, they are northeastJiangxi、northwest Jiangxi and south Jiangxi，this paper has an analysis on thecompetition and complementarities relationship of the regional economic growthamong those regions and cities through D-S model. The results show that:（1）Competitive situation emerges between the northeast part of JiangxiProvince and the southern part of Jiangxi Province.Complementation occurs betweenthe northwest part of Jiangxi Province and the northeast part of Jiangxi Province aswell as the southern part whose cooperation with the northwest part is morestronger.Overall, competitiveness is stronger than complementation in each part ofJiangxi province.（2）Competitiveness occurs between every two cities of the northeast part inJiangxi Province.The strongest competitiveness occurs between Yingtan andNanchang. Meanwhile the weakest competitiveness occurs between Shangrao andJingdezheng;Nanchang competes with Jingdezheng,Yingtan as well asShangrao.Jingdezheng compete more stronger with Shangrao than Yingtan;Yingtancompete more stronger with each of the other three cities than Shangrao whichmeans that economic development of Yingtan is more dynamic than Shangrao.（3）Competitiveness occurs between every two cities of the northeast part inJiangxi Province.The strongest competitiveness occurs between Yingtan andNanchang. Meanwhile the weakest competitiveness occurs between Shangrao andJingdezheng;Nanchang competes with Jingdezheng,Yingtan as well asShangrao.Jingdezheng compete more stronger with Shangrao than Yingtan;Yingtancompete more stronger with each of the other three cities than Shangrao whichmeans that economic development of Yingtan is more dynamic than Shangrao.(4)Competitiveness occur between every two cities of the southern part ofJiangxi Province.Fuzhou competes stronger with Nanchang as well as Ganzhou.Furthermore, using the method of spatial auto correlation to explore the spatial auto relevance of the11cities’ economic growth, based on the rate of economicgrowth to discuss the influence of the competition and complementaritiesrelationship of the regional economic growth in Jiangxi Province;then try to analysethe factors to the interaction of the regional economical growth in JiangXi province,mainly include the geographical location, industrial structure, policy, the level ofurbanization and opening up, talent education et al.Finally, based on the result, the paper gave some suggestions to the future ofeconomic development in JiangXi province, also pointed out the deficiency andfuture research direction.
