China’s automobile industry has developed rapidly in recent years and China isthe biggest automobile manufacturing country in the world. However, restriction ofresources and technology has become the most serious problem that hinderseconomic development of automobile industry. Therefore, maintaining sustainabledevelopment is the best way for China’s automobile industry and building acomplete evaluation system is one of the essential part. Using this system, Policymakers and managers can be targeted to the automobile industry developmentpolicy and structural adjustment.In the paper the concept of resource-saving automobile industry is firstproposed.Through the analysis of its content and features, a comprehensiveevaluation index system and the comprehensive evaluation method ofresource-saving automobile industry is established. The comprehensive evaluationmethod of resource-saving automobile industry in the paper is a combination of theanalytic hierarchy process and entropy method. The2001-2010automobile industrydegree of resource conservation in China is evaluated by the comprehensiveevaluation method. The results show that the resource conservation degree of ourautomobile industry has increased from2001to2010.In addition, the designprocess, including awareness and technology of resource conservation is critical tothe development of resource-saving automobile industry. At the same time, researchand promotion of new energy vehicles also play a vital role on the development ofresource-saving auto industry. Finally, the related suggestions are proposed basedon evaluation results.
