Qingdao Cruise Economy Development Research Based On Industrial Cluster

Cruise travel has become more and more popular in many developed countries. As aquite mature industry in the world, cruise industry continues to show its strong growthmomentum. With high economic benefits and social value, cruise economy plays a significantrole in increasing local economic income, expanding consumption, increasing employmentand enhancing the local government international presence. With increasingly frequentexchange between countries, there are more and more cruises received by our country andcruise tourism is gradually emerging. Nowadays as people consumption level increasinglyrises and the national economy continuingly grows, there is huge potential for cruise economydevelopment.In the last few years Qingdao has received more and more international cruises andpassengers and obtained high economic and social benefits. It’s suitable for Qingdao todevelop cruise economy for its advantages in nature, economy, society and culture as well asthe government policy support. However, at the present stage Qingdao cruise economy isunder construction and it is still immature in policy, industry and market. Thus its developmentencounters many problems. By introducing industrial cluster theory, the paper analyzesQingdao cruise economy development environment, cruise economy specialization and graycorrelation model, finds out the problems in Qingdao cruise economy development and comesup with measures and suggestion of instructive significance to develop the cruise economy.This paper at first analyzes the research background and basis to make the researchmeaning explicit. The emphasis of this research has been stressed by summarizing theprogression of theory both home and abroad and getting hold of the trends of theorydevelopment. The starting point and thread of this paper are put forward on the basis of systematic analysis of the relative studies at home and abroad. By elaborating and analyzingthe related notion and theories concerning cruise industry, cruise economy and industrialcluster, the thesis explains the structure and characteristics of cruise economy and industrialcluster and introduces growth pole theory, region synthesis theory and cluster evolutiondriving mechanism theory.This paper analyzes the environment of developing cruise economy in Qingdao,including cruise economy development policy environment, market environment,environment of competition and industrial condition, discusses the advantages anddisadvantages to develop cruise economy in Qingdao, and forecasts the cruise market in thefuture.This thesis analyzes the cluster degree of Qingdao cruise industry, including the cruiseindustry specialization degree and the gray correlation model between cruise industry andGDP, and draws the conclusion that in Qingdao cruise industry, tourism specialization degreeis higher than transportation equipment manufacture, retail industry and financial industry, andtransportation is the lowest. With the comparison to the gray correlation model of GDP, it findsout that the retail industry, transportation and tourism contribute more to GDP whiletransportation equipment manufacture and financial industry much less.By analyzing the problems in developing cruise economy in Qingdao, the thesis comesup with some countermeasures and suggestion for future development, including establishingcruise economy policies geared to international standards, creating a good environment todevelop cruise economy, setting up industrial cluster led by the government, innovating cruiseeconomy development model and perfecting infrastructure construction. These five measurescover both policies and environment from the macroscopic view and the infrastructureconstruction from the microscopic view in the cruise economy development in Qingdao. Atlast the thesis also suggests the city set up cruise industry cluster led by the local governmentbased on the current situation.
