There is a longstanding research on enterprises core competitiveness both in Chinaand abroad, and research achievements gets mature. However, it was found to beweak that research on enterprise competitive advantage from financial angle. Thispaper combines enterprise core competitiveness and financial management theory,establishing a comprehensive indicator system, which can evaluate the corecompetitiveness of listed steel company. Thus, analyses core competitiveness of JinanSteel Company from financial angle. At last, this paper puts forward strategies andsuggestions for steel companies in China to improve their core competitiveness.This paper mainly uses case study method, linking theory and practice and exploringcore competitiveness by analyzing a practical financial case of Jinan Steel Company.The main content and logical structure of this paper is listed as below: The Firstchapter Introduction, states the background of this research and raises the researchproblem, then, indicates the importance of analysis of steel company corecompetitiveness from financial angle, which is in accord with reality. The Secondchapter Literature Review, summarizes the foreign and domestic researchachievements on enterprise core competitiveness, in addition, this part also reviewsresearch results on steel company core competitiveness of some domestic researcher.Again, discusses the theory basis for relationship between company financial abilityand company core competitiveness, therefore, discovers the present situation andpotential of this research. The third chapter Description of case, problem andviewpoint, in this part, Jinan Steel Company was chosen to be the study object, andfurther introduces its basic information, financial situation, problems and viewpointfrom this real case. The fourth chapter Analysis and Discussion of Case, this chapterestablishes a basic evaluation system for steel company competitiveness based on thetheory of forming company core competitiveness. In this system, the key point of thisresearch is qualitative identification and quantitative evaluation of core competitiveness. And this paper selects appropriate financial index to measure andcompare the result with the average data in this industry on the basis of analyzingfinancial statement. At the same time, combining the result with financial or economicindex related to technical, management and regulation innovation to measure corecompetitiveness of Jinan Steel Company. The fifth chapter of this paper is strategiesfor improve steel companies’ core competitiveness. According to analyses of abovechapter, some strategies and suggestions were proposed from financial angle in orderto foster and improve core competitiveness of Chinese steel companies. And by doingso, creating vales for shareholders and holding a mirror for management of Chinesesteel companies. The Last chapter is conclusion and inspiration. This chaptersummarizes the research result and takes Jinan Steel Company as the breakthroughpoint to evaluate the core competitiveness from company financial angle.This study uses the research achievements of other researcher, and research results ofsteel company core competitiveness done by domestic researcher. Additionally, thispaper combines financial management, accounting and management basic theory,focusing on company financial area, and establishing a system to evaluate companies’core competitiveness, which has theory and practical value.
