Flexibility Management Of Supply Chain For Prototype Engine Development

Chinese domestic car makers are changing from the reverseengineering to the positive development. The purpose of this study is tosolve the problems such as lead time longer, poor assembly quality andbad response to configuration changing in the research and developmentactivities. Author studied all the key steps across the whole supply chainof prototype engine then proposed one combined solution to improve theperformance of the supply chain from the providing end and thedemanding end. This solution has been applied to the practical operationof one Chinese automotive company. Author also analyzed the flexibilityof the chain based on the SCOR theoretically. The proposed solutionbrings the solid benefit to the real business operation for the casecompany. It also demonstrates that the flexible supply chain with thefeature of lean management can add real value to the practical business.
