Nowadays, with the rapid development of the logistics industry, warehousing isrequired to be able to process orders more quickly, and to respond to customers’ needs intime. Therefore, warehouse management is increasingly complex and more challenging.Order-picking is the most labor-intensive and costly in all warehouse operations. Withthe increased diversity of customer demand and high service quality expectations, theresearch and application of picking methods become one of the research hotspots, in orderto improve the efficiency of warehouse operations and reduces the labor consumption.According to the deviation degree from the shelf center of point to be picking on theshelf, based on characteristics of the Largest Gap method and Combine strategy, this paperproposes an optimizing routing method in a single area warehouse based on the deviationratio. When we judge travelling style in picking aisle with picking points, not onlyconsidering the picking aisle, if necessary, in combination with follow-up picking aisleswith picking points for combined optimization.Taking the total picking path length as the key performance indicators, through thesimulation of S-shape strategy, Largest Gap method, Combine strategy and optimizationmethod based on the deviation ratio, using different random picking point layouts tosimulate picking density of the orders, this paper seeks the performance of these methods, and make some analysis of their application scopes. Verified through simulation results, optimization method based on the deviation ratio is indeed always better than the otherthree methods, with better optimization effect. Finally, these optimization methods arepractically applied in the warehouse management system, which further verifies thefeasibility and superiority of the method. We hope that this thesis can provide somereferences for optimizing routing method, and lay a foundation of technology.
