Impact Of Headquarters Economy On Regional Innovation

As countries in the world paid more and more attention to the innovationcapability, our government made the important strategic decision to build innovativecountry in January,2006. In this situation, Xi’an also put forward the strategic goal ofinnovative city. Xi’an, located in the inland, was the center city of northwest area. Ithad rich resources of science and education, but economic growth was relativebackwardness.How to improve the urban innovation capability to promote innovationcity construction, and how to choose an effective path, were becoming big problemsfor Xi’an to be solved.Xi’an high-tech zone is one of the national high-zones, and its development drivesthe economic growth of Xi’an. In recent years, around the target of world first-classtechnology zone, Xi’an high-zone put the headquarters economy in an importantposition. Headquarters economy is concerned by more and more scholars as a neweconomic form. With the features of high-ranking, knowledge and creativity,headquarters economy development is conducive to the regional economicdevelopment and the upgrade of industry structure, and it’s an important way torealize the regional sustainable development. Based on the background, this paperselected headquarters economy and regional innovation as resrarch objects, andexpected to play a guiding role in headquarters economy and innovative cityconstruction in practice.Firstly, this paper reviewed the domestic and international theories onheadquarters economy and regional innovation, then, it analyzed the relationshipbetween the headquarters economy and regional innovation, at the same time, madestudies on the headquarters economy development situation and regional innovationsituation in Xi’an high-tech zone. This paper suggested the headquarter economydevelopment would improve regional innovation capability, and the improvement ofregional innovation also could promote headquarters economy development. Based onthe former research, this paper chose four influence factors to make latter research,which were knowledge spillover, social capital; innovation resources and headquarterscluster innovation culture.Because enterprises were the key point of regional innovation, whether the regional innovation improved depended on the enterpriseinnovation ability.From the micro perspective, this paper made further discussion onthe relationship between the four influence factors and enterprise innovation ability,and put forward five research hypotheses, and constructed a conceptual model, whichwas another innovation point.This paper used canonical correlation analysis and regression analysis to test thehypotheses, and the hypotheses were all supported by the test, and the empiricalresults showed that knowledge spillover, social capital and innovation resources,headquarters cluster innovation culture, headquarters economy all had positivecorrelation with enterprise innovation capability. Because enterprises were the mainpart in regional innovation system, headquarters economy development was aneffective way to promote regional innovation.According to the empirical research conclusion, this paper put forward somecountermeasures to develop headquarters economy, such as making different strategyaccording to the city situation, encouraging enterprises layout in the form ofheadquarters economy, and optimizing environment from hardware capacities andsoftware capacities. At last, this paper pointed out the innovation points and shortage,as well as came up with some suggestions on the future study.
